A l'eau la Terre? Ici Strasbourg
Host to numerous institutions, the greatest of which is the European Parliament, Strasbourg not only proved its institutional standing but also brilliantly defended its position as the first city in the world to be recognised as "world heritage site" by UNESCO. Its picturesque city centre, small cobbled alleys and secluded areas were beautifully put together. With every restaurant offering their own speciality of Flammekuches (a wood-stove thin flambee pizza topped with cream, onions and bacon), choucroute (fermented white cabbage with a mix of vegetables and meats) and an absurdly large variety of sausages, I must admit the city would not exactly satisfy a vegetarian's taste-buds. However, some lovely white wine, munster cheese and glazed fruit tarts more than made up for the lack of a decent main course!
